Ken Miller
EMS Medical Director
Overview
Dr. Miller is a board-certified emergency physician with a subspecialty certification in Emergency Medical Services, has a Ph.D. in pharmacology and is a graduate of the Harvard Kennedy School of Government Senior Executives in State and Local Government fellowship. He is currently the Medical Director of the Santa Clara County (CA) EMS Agency. His career in EMS includes that as an EMT-Basic, paramedic, EMS educator and preceptor and EMS supervisor in municipal third service, fire department and helicopter EMS delivery systems then as a base hospital, fire department and EMS agency medical director. He has served as the Medical Team Manager of FEMA Urban Search and Rescue California Task Force 5, Medical Officer for FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Incident Support Team and on the FEMA National Advisory Council, National EMS Advisory Council and the National Preparedness and Response Science Board. He has been the Team Leader of the DHHS National Disaster Medical System Disaster Medical Assistance Team CA-1, Assistant Deputy Chief Medical Officer for DHHS/NDMS Region IX and the medical advisor to the Orange County Chapter of the American Red Cross. He currently serves on the Inter-Agency Board Health, Medical and Responder Safety Subgroup, is a member of the Emergency Medical Services Medical Directors Association of California (EMDAC), is chair of the EMDAC Scope of Practice Committee, and is a member of the CA EMS Authority Data Advisory Committee.
